Louisa May Alcott wrote normal-looking characters (these scholars complain about it)

Honestly, I can think of nothing sadder than Alcott scholars who say that Little Women characters are not attractive enough.

You are kinda missing the whole point. Louisa wrote about normal-looking characters and Jo and Fritz are not written to be beautiful and dashing.
